did being one of jehovahs witnesses kill your drive?

it is understandable how someone who has been a jehovahs witness .

for a number of years could become complacent and except their lot in life.

Still recovering! Am in my last year of my nursing degree at university, and- surprise surprise- I'll be the first in my extended family to graduate. I remember when i was in school my mother said she was happy if i were to become a bank teller!!! However I have this obsessive drive to complete more & more post-grad education......i think partially related to that i feel i need to prove myself to those JW's, related & non-related, that i'm a good person/not evil/no drop out....has anyone else experienced this? should i be starting a new thread lol? oh, relating to the question....yes it killed a hell of a lot of drive, probably due to turning into a zombie at those b-o-r-i-n-g meetings.

did you ever search myspace for jehovahs witnesses?

i just opend an account recently and i went searching around.

i found some jw's there.

and then there's bebo!when i was stil (just) in, the local elders caught wind of some of their 'sheep' on it, so one elder created an account to try to monitor (police) the goings on. when he realised he couldn't control anything, those elders told parents to ban their kids, etc.......nothing that a bit of mind control can't fix lol

when i was in i regular pioneered for years and had to wear those shitty wing tipped dress shoes.

i tried wearing flat front dress/casual shoes but the asshole elders said they were wordly.

well i now have foot problems due to having my feet crammed into a fucking sardin box and literally walking to china.

Hi everyone, i just joined this forum, am starting to go through the stories & info & hoping this will be a good support channel (i have heaps to discuss& vent lol). i don't have the energy to go through my life story (yet!), but basically i've left the organisation, which was a gradual yet sudden process. like most of you i assume, i wonder how differently my life would be if i weren't brought up (from birth)like that. i'm slowly going through the process of de-programming my mind..........meanwhile coming to terms with being ostrasized by my friends and family. just wondering if there are many australian members on this site?
